York regional police have charged an Oakville man with manslaughter after he allegedly sold fentanyl to a man who later fatally overdosed on the potent opioid.

Police were called to an East Gwillimbury home on December 24, 2017 where a 35-year-old man was found dead.

An investigation was launched and police determined that the man purchased fentanyl a day before he fatally overdosed.

On Thursday June 21, police arrested the man accused of providing the drug. Michael Hilder, 37, is facing charges of manslaughter and trafficking in a schedule 1 substance.
