Peel police say one male driver has been charged with impaired driving after a four-vehicle crash in Mississauga.

Officers were called to Hurontario Street and Bristol Road West just after 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

The male driver, who was placed in police custody, was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

The driver reportedly blew almost double the legal limit.

Another driver, a woman in her 60s, had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was then taken to a trauma centre in critical condition.

The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated. Hurontario has since reopened in both directions.
