Cyclist dies after being struck by truck at Bloor and St. George

By News Staff

A cyclist has died after she was struck by a truck at St. George and Bloor streets on Tuesday afternoon, Toronto police say.

The cyclist had no pulse when emergency crews arrived just after noon, and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the vehicle, a construction truck, remained at the scene and an investigation is underway.

Const. Clint Stibbe says the identity of the cyclist hasn’t yet been released, and it’s too early to say if charges will be laid.

Bloor Street has separated bike lanes, but Stibbe said it’s not clear if the cyclist was riding in the bike lane at the time of the collision. That’s something the reconstruction team will be trying to determine.

The intersection and surrounding roads were closed for an extended period of time as reconstruction teams worked in the area but have since reopened.
