19-year-old killed in Mississauga stabbing

The Peel region homicide unit is investigating its 10th homicide of the year after a man was killed in Mississauga in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were called to the area of Tradewind Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard for reports of a stabbing at a house party at around 1:15 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man with obvious signs of trauma. He was rushed to hospital and where he later died.

Friends on social media identified him as Daniel Smith with police confirming his identity on Sunday.

A number of online posts say Smith was stabbed while attempting to break up a fight during an after prom party.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time. They are asking witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
