Teenager killed in Scarborough double shooting

By News Staff

Early morning gunfire rang out near two public schools in Scarborough, killing one teenager and sending another to hospital in critical condition.

Police were called to a relatively quiet neighbourhood in the area of Scarborough Golf Club Road and Ellesmere Road just after 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Mohammed Gharda. 17, of Toronto was found dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old man was taken to a nearby trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. Police say suffered multiple gunshot wounds but he is expected to survive.

Multiple bullet holes can be seen in the driver side door of a car parked on Milford Haven Drive, indicating the pair were likely inside the car when the shooting occurred.

No suspects have been identified, but police say they do believe the shooting was targeted.

Anyone in the area with surveillance cameras on their property or who might have heard or saw anything out the ordinary is asked to contact police.
