Several transport trucks, vehicles involved in 3 separate crashes on Hwy. 401

A driver was seriously injured in one of three crashes on Highway 401 west of Toronto on Thursday.

Around 8 a.m., three passenger vehicles and two transport trucks were involved in a crash in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Winston Churchill Boulevard in Mississauga.

One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The traffic backlog as a result of the crash may have led to a second collision farther back in the eastbound lanes, police say.

About two hours later, around 10 a.m., a tractor-trailer rear-ended another transport truck near Trafalgar Road.

One person was airlifted to hospital and is now in stable condition.

And then around noon, four vehicles collided, again in the eastbound lanes, near Martin Road in Milton.

There were no serious injuries in the third crash.
