Impaired driver blows four times over legal limit with child in car

A 39-year-old Milton man is facing charges of impaired driving after blowing four times over the legal limit.

Halton Regional Police say they received several calls from people alerting them to a car driving carelessly, hitting curbs and swerving all over the road in the area of Farmstead Drive and Louis St. Laurent Avenue.

Police say when arrived on the scene, they discovered a car being driven in a field behind Boyne Public School.

As police were arresting the driver, they became aware that a six year old boy was in the back seat. The child was turned over to his mother, who told police she was unaware that her estranged husband was driving around with their son.

The man was taken by police to 12 Division in Milton where a breathalyzer showed readings four times above the legal limit of 80 mgs.

The man was charged with impaired driving as well as charges under the Highway Traffic Act related to the unbelted child in the car.

The name of the man is not being released in order to protect the identity of the child.
