A 24-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of an aspiring rapper from Toronto.
Toronto police say a man walked into an apartment building on Eglinton Avenue East, near Markham Road, just before 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 3, 2017. It’s alleged he made his way up to the third floor and shot Malique Ellis, 21, several times.
Ellis — also known as emerging artist Lil Mell — died at the scene.
On Thursday, detectives arrested Henok Mebratu and charged him with first-degree murder.
He was due in court on Friday morning.
