Hamilton GO train service resumes after disabled freight train delay

GO trains on the Lakeshore West are back up and running after a significant delay Tuesday morning due to a stalled freight train.

The disabled freight train near Hamilton GO Centre station blocked access to the train tracks, which resulted in no train service to the station for about two hours earlier Tuesday morning – the first day back to work for many after the holiday break. Even after the disabled train had been removed from the tracks, the backup caused delays on the line.

For commuters traveling to Union Station, GO bus route 16 was in service and for those going elsewhere, two shuttle buses were provided from the Hamilton GO Centre station to transport passengers to the Aldershot GO station where service was available.

Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins said all trains on the line were affected.
