Arbitrator’s decision in college strike due this week

By News Staff

We should find out sometime this week the details of an arbitrated settlement in the Ontario college strike.

OPSEU, the union representing 12,000 professors, instructors, counsellors and librarians, and the colleges bargaining team spent two days in mediation talks before meeting with an arbitrator on Saturday.

The arbitrator’s award will form the new collective agreement. It is expected to be handed down this week.

The Ontario Liberal government forced an end to the five-week strike by bringing in back-to-work legislation, which was passed back on November 19.
