Third family member dies from injuries sustained in TCH fire

A third family member pulled from a Toronto Community Housing building during last week’s fire has died.
The 16-year-old was taken to hospital along with his mother in life-threatening condition after fire broke out in the basement apartment of the complex on Flemington Road, near Allen Road on December 4.
An 18-year-old was pronounced dead in hospital on the day of the fire while a 47-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries five days later.
A cause for the blaze has not yet been released but police said it was not believed to be suspicious.
According to the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal the fire originated in the living room and was contained there but there was heavy soot and smoke, which is indicative of a slow, smouldering fire.
