#TTCtrashpanda: Raccoon delays subway at Bloor Station

A masked invader held up a subway train at Bloor Station Friday morning — but maybe not in the way you might expect.
One of Toronto’s more street-smart raccoons found its way onto a southbound train at Bloor Station during the morning rush hour, causing a brief delay.
TTC special constables used a special stick with a lasso to capture the furry commuter around 9:30 a.m.
“Transit enforcement … they were able to get on the train right away and get him off,” said spokesman Stuart Green. “A couple minutes I think it took.”
They gave the raccoon some food and held it in a trash bin (of course) until Toronto Animal Services could remove it.
TTC spokesman Brad Ross said the animal was “in relative comfort and absolute safety” in the TTC offices at Bloor Station, awaiting Animal Services.
Later, Ross said “#TTCtrashpanda has left the building.”
He thanked the animal for riding the red rocket, but encouraged it to find another way to get around town.
Last year, a raccoon boarded a southbound subway train and got off at Spadina Station, where it escaped into the tunnel.
