Minivan crashes into truck elevator shaft

The driver of a minivan walked away without injuries after a mishap at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Police said around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday a 2005 Dodge Caravan crashed into a truck elevator shaft off Lower Simcoe Street, near Bremner Boulevard, and was hanging about 30 feet above the ground.

Police said they are investigating the cause of the crash, including the possibility of a mechanical failure with the vehicle.

There has been no word on if the 40-year-old driver will face any charges.
