Woman killed after being struck by minivan in Scarborough

A 55-year-old woman has died after she was hit by a minivan in Scarborough on Friday night.

Police say it happened as the woman was crossing Warden Avenue, south of Lawrence Avenue East, around 10:30 p.m.

Paramedics took the woman to a trauma centre in critical condition and she later died.

A 21-year-old woman was driving the Dodge Caravan.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward.

@Dr. M: Most pedestrians have the mentality that they have the right of way in all circumstances and they’d rather be right than alive.

Imagine the trauma jaywalkers cause innocent drivers who are unable to see them and accidentally hit them?
