Man, 55, shot in the abdomen in Brampton

A 55-year-old man was rushed to hospital after an early-morning shooting in Brampton.

Emergency officials were called to the scene at West Drive and Queen Street East, just east of Highway 410, around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Police said the incident began with an interaction between the victim and a suspect in a parking lot.

From there, vehicles were driven to the 410 and Clarke Boulevard area where shots were fired.

Police said the victim then drove back to the parking lot, where he was found by police and rushed to hospital.

Paramedics said the man was shot in the abdomen. His injuries are life-threatening.

Police are searching for one suspect described as male, black with a thin build wearing a white track suit. The suspect fled in a black Nissan.

Anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident is being asked to contact investigators.
