Woman, 19, charged after performing cosmetic surgery in basement of home

Police have charged a 19-year-old woman with aggravated assault after she reportedly performed cosmetic surgery in the basement of a North York home.

It’s alleged a woman responded to an ad offering a cosmetic surgical procedure and went to an unlicensed medical clinic near Bayview and Sheppard avenues.

Police said Jingyi Wang, who went by the name Dr. Kitty, performed the procedure on the woman in April 2017.

Within a few weeks, the woman developed an infection and needed corrective surgery from a licensed plastic surgeon in Toronto.

The incident was later reported to police.

On Friday, arrested Wang at the home and charged her with aggravated assault.

She was due in court at Old City Hall on Saturday morning.

Police believe there may be other victims.
