A towering art installation that raised the ire of local residents will be moving to a new location in Markham, according to a report.
Charity the cow, an eight-metre-tall sculpture on stilts, was erected in July in a small park on Charity Crescent, near Woodbine Avenue and Elgin Mills Road East.
Soon after, the town of Markham heard from homeowners complaining about the sculpture’s imposing nature — but the artist and donor refused to modify it.
At a development services committee meeting on Monday, councillors bent to pressure from residents and agreed to move the cow, according to a report in the Markham Economist & Sun.
More information on when and where the cow might be moved will be revealed at an Oct. 17 council meeting.
