Person of interest sought in St. Lawrence Market area shooting

Toronto police would like to speak with a person of interest after a man was shot eight times near the St. Lawrence Market earlier this week.

Emergency crews were called to Henry Lane Terrace near Jarvis Street, south of Front Street, early on Tuesday morning.

Police said shortly after midnight a 21-year-old man was standing in a hallway inside the building when he was approached by an unknown man and shot multiple times.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but is expected to recover.

Police said a man can be seen in the immediate area at the time of the incident. He is being considered a person of interest and investigators would like to speak with him about any possible involvement with the shooting.

He is described as black, wearing a salmon-coloured dress shirt and a fedora hat.

Security images of the person of interest have been released.
