Worker injured as driver jumps curb near Scarbrough Civic Centre

Two people are in hospital after a driver jumped a curb and their vehicle hit a worker outside the Scarbrough Civic Centre.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Brimley and Ellesmere roads around 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to those who witnessed the crash, a Honda Accord was going at high rate of speed when it jumped a curb, hit several large potted flower plants and struck a gardener before crashing into the building.

Paramedics said the worker was rushed to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Police remain on scene.
