Man stabbed during road rage incident in Vaughan

A 53-year-old man is facing charges after a road rage incident turned violent.

Just before 11 p.m. on Aug. 6 police in York Region were called to a coffee shop near Highway 27 and Zenway Boulevard in Vaughan for reports of a man having been stabbed.

Police said officers found the man inside the shop, suffering from a stab wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said the victim had been driving on Zenway and was being followed closely by another vehicle. When the vehicles stopped at a red light, both drivers got out of their cars and an altercation ensued.

During the confrontation, the victim, a 29-year-old Brampton man, was stabbed.

Police said the suspect fled the scene while the victim drove himself to the coffee shop to call for help.

On Wednesday, Vito Maltese of Brampton was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
