16 charged, $3M worth of drugs seized in year-long investigation

A total of 16 people are facing charges and nearly $3-million worth of drugs have been seized following a year-long investigation.
Dubbed ‘Project Cartella’, the investigation involved Peel, Halton and York Region police forces along with the Ontario Provincial Police.
Among the drugs seized were 8.6 kilograms of cocaine, 85 kilograms of marijuana, 31 ounces of MDMA – otherwise known as ecstasy – and 6.4 grams of fentanyl.
The accused include 12 men and four women, ranging in age from 25 to 56, from Toronto, Vaughan, Mississauga, Brampton and Springwater Township. All face numerous drug, firearm and possession charges.
