Man wielding shotgun carjacks woman in west end: police

Police are searching for a suspect after he allegedly carjacked a woman’s vehicle near Dufferin Street and Lawrence Avenue West on Saturday.

Police responded to a call about a man allegedly pointing a gun at people near Playfair and Marianfeld avenues around 5:15 p.m.

Officers say the man was driving a green car and struck a few other vehicles before stopping and leaving the car. He then reportedly produced a shotgun and carjacked a woman, fleeing in the stolen car.

Police say the man is considered armed and violent, reportedly pointing the shotgun at people without hesitation.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s, between five-foot-nine and six-foot-two, with a skinny build and short dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a red Blue Jays Bautista jersey.

Police are looking for the car he fled in — a black Dodge Journey with the Ontario license plate BVYP 766.

The emergency task force has been called in to assist with the investigation. No injuries were reported.
