MONTREAL – Montreal police say a woman who allegedly ran down a suspected thief with her vehicle won’t face charges.

Const. Caroline Chevrefils says the man refused to file a complaint stemming from Wednesday’s incident.

The 44-year-old woman noticed the cyclist inside her vehicle in the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery as he was allegedly attempting to steal her purse.

The man escaped on a bicycle before ending up pinned underneath the woman’s car.

Police say the 46-year-old accused will face charges of vehicle theft and is still recovering from injuries in hospital.

On Wednesday, police had said the woman might face a charge of assault with a weapon.
