Teen arrested after lying on top of parked subway train

A 13-year-old girl has been arrested after photos of her lying on top of a TTC subway car surfaced online.

The photos were posted to Twitter on Friday afternoon and directed to TTC customer service, asking “is this a new @ttc hangout spot?”

In one photo, the girl is lying on her stomach on top of the parked subway car in the train yard, using her cellphone.

“At Davisville Station there is an area that the trains can go and park .. that’s where she was photographed,” Const. Victor Kwong explained.

TTC spokesman Brad Ross said the girl climbed over the fence at Davisville. When someone spotted her, she got down from the top of the car and was taken into police custody.

Despite the train being parked in the yard, Kwong said it can still be a dangerous situation.

“Although it might seem that she’s on top of the parked car, it’s the fact that these trains and cars can go into service at any time,” he said.

“If she tried to jump off a moving train, that obviously is an injury. However, if she holds on and they go into a tunnel, these tunnels don’t have a lot of clearance, so it does present itself (as) quite the dangerous situation.”

Police said she will be released under the youth Pre-Charge Diversion program.
