Vicious assault in Cabbagetown leaves man with serious injuries

A man is fighting for his life after a violent assault in Cabbagetown on Wednesday evening.
Toronto police were called to a residence near Parliament and Carlton streets just after 9 a.m.
A man, believed to be in his 40s, was rushed to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police originally believed this may have been a stabbing, but later said the victim was brutally beaten.
It is not yet known if the assault happened at a residence on Parliament or in the area.
Police have not released any information about a suspect.
