‘Sons of Anarchy’ star Kim Coates set for return to Canadian stage in ‘Jerusalem’

TORONTO – Canadian actor Kim Coates of “Sons of Anarchy” fame is set to make a return to his homegrown theatrical roots early next year in “Jerusalem.”
The Saskatoon native will headline the Canadian premiere of the critically acclaimed play from English playwright Jez Butterworth, which will be onstage at the Streetcar Crowsnest in Toronto beginning on Feb. 13, 2018.
Coates will portray daredevil Johnny (Rooster) Byron, a role previously played on the London stage by Oscar winner Mark Rylance.
“Jerusalem” will mark Coates’s return to the stage after a quarter-century spent mainly focused on film and TV work.
Coates launched his career in the theatre and has more than 50 plays to his credit, including the title role in “Macbeth” at the Stratford Festival and as Stanley Kowalski in “A Streetcar Named Desire” on Broadway.
Earlier this month, he was in Saskatoon to receive an honorary doctor of letters degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
