Three Toronto police officers accused of sexually assaulting a female parking enforcement officer have elected to be tried by a judge.

Sameer Kara, Leslie Nyznik and Joshua Cabero, all from 51 division, are accused of sexually assaulting a female colleague in a downtown hotel room while she was too intoxicated to consent, according to court documents.

They were charged with sexual assault and gang sexual assault on Feb. 19, 2015.

CityNews first learned through its sources that the alleged victim, whose identity is protected, was apparently assaulted by the officers at an after-work party in mid-January at Toronto’s Westin Harbour Castle Hotel.

The hotel confirmed to CityNews that it’s cooperating in the investigation.

The Crown is expected to call 17 witnesses.

The trial will continue on June 5.
