Victim identified after pair found dead near Gerrard and Jones

Toronto police have released the name of one victim after a man was fatally shot and a woman was found dead in the city’s east end on Monday.
Abdiqani Abshir, 24, of Toronto, had been shot at least three times. He was found inside a car near Gerrard Street and Jones Avenue around 11:50 p.m. and rushed to hospital, where he later died.
As part of the investigation, police went to a home on Cavell Avenue.
There, they found the body of a woman. Police said Thursday her name would not be released. The cause of her death has also not been released, and police have not said what her connection is to Abshir.
