Rexdale shooting victim shot himself in leg, second suspect sought

Police have released new details about a shooting incident in Rexdale between two men, one of whom is in custody.

Toronto police were initially called to the Finch Avenue and Albion Road area around 10 p.m. on Thursday. Two men were reportedly shooting towards people in a courtyard at the location.

One man was armed with a .40 calibre handgun and fired off a minimum of ten rounds, police say.

The other man had a double-barreled, sawed-off shotgun and fired one shot. Both men then fled down Kendleton Drive.

An investigation into the incident has revealed that the man armed with the shotgun attempted to conceal it and while doing so, shot himself in the leg.

He was found injured about three kilometres away, near Kipling Avenue and Redcliff Boulevard. He was taken to hospital and arrested there on Friday morning.

Ojo Oluwaseun, 19, is facing 13 charges including careless use of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

In addition, police found a .40 calibre handgun in the Finch Avenue West and Albion Road area on Friday at around 7:30 a.m. They are investigating the weapon as a possible link to the shooting incident on Thursday.

Police are still searching for the other suspect allegedly involved in the shooting. He is described as a black man in his 20s, between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall, wearing grey pants and a black hooded top with a white logo on the front.
