Whittamore’s Farm summer season will be its last

By News Staff

Whittamore’s Farm – a pick-your-own farm in Markham that has welcomed GTA families for more than 60 years – will open for the last time this May.

After the summer season, which begins on May 3, the family will close its doors to the public in November. However, the family has no plans to close the farm itself, which has belong to the Whittamores since 1804.

“We are making the change to rebalance our lives and pursue other interests and opportunities,” Mike Whittamore, the farm’s pick-your-own owner and operator, said in a statement.

The Farm Shop, Fun Farm Yard, Pick-Your-Own and Pumpkinland facilities, all located in a 330-acre property near the Rouge River Valley, will close. Roughly 300,000 customers visit every year, the family said.

“It has been a privilege to operate this business, and we are grateful for our loyal customers, our amazing employees and everyone who has been part of the Whittamore’s Farm family,” Frank Whittamore, the owner and operator of Whittamore’s Farm Shop and Fun Farm Yard, said in a statement.
