Police release photo of suspects in subway stink bomb incident

By News Staff

Toronto Police have released a photo of two suspects in connection with a mischief investigation at a downtown subway station.

A strong sulfur like smell was reported around 4:30 p.m. Friday on a southbound train on the Yonge-Univeristy subway line, triggering an evacuation at Museum station.

Subway service was temporarily suspended for a full emergency response including police, paramedics and Toronto Fire’s hazardous materials unit.

Police say the smell was allegedly caused by a novelty item stink bomb.

The two men identified as suspects were reportedly seen on the southbound platform at St.George subway station shortly before the smell was detected.

Police say one of them was seen throwing the item onto the train as the doors were closing. The suspects allegedly intended to cause a panic on the crowded subway car.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
