Peel police confirm missing Mississauga woman was murdered

By News Staff

Peel police have confirmed that the death of a missing Mississauga woman was a homicide.

Cheryl Mcvarish, 43, was last seen on March 13 at Lakeshore Road East and Cawthra Road.

Her body was found a week later outside of a home on Westmount Avenue near Port Credit.

Area resident Mike Rauth called 911 after making the grisly discovery while walking his dog.

“I seen a pair of legs in the front of the neighbour’s vehicle,” said Rauth. “I immediately rushed home and called 911.”

On Tuesday police said Mcvarish was murdered. She’s Peel region’s third homicide victim of the year.

A cause of death is not being released and police say there is no threat to public safety.
