A 32-year-old Hamilton woman is dead after she was struck by a GO bus at Union Station on Sunday night.

The woman was hit in the loading and unloading area of the bus terminal at Bay and Front streets just after 6:30 p.m.

Police said the bus driver, a 46-year-old man, was pulling out of the bus bay when the woman, who was running alongside the bus, was hit.

She was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving in hospital.

“We have surveillance cameras at every station … every bus does as well, so we have already made those [videos] available to the police,” Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins said on Sunday.

The bus terminal at Union Station was closed for the investigation but reopened just after 10 p.m.
