Police seek two suspect after vicious downtown stabbing

A man and woman are wanted in connection to a downtown stabbing that sent a 34-year-old man to hospital Saturday afternoon.

The man was found at a convenience store at Dundas and Church streets around 4 p.m., but it’s not clear if he was stabbed inside the store.

A witness named Warren was across the street having a coffee when he saw the victim.

“I noticed a guy coming out of the store, and in minutes he kind of fell down,” Warren said.

“As soon as he came out, the police were right like Johnny-on-the-spot. So, obviously something happened inside the store.”

Toronto Police say the victim was walking his dog at the intersection of Dalhousie, when the random attack took place.

“While he was walking down the street, there was a man and woman, and he unintentionally bumped into the man, a dispute ensued between the two,” P.C. Craig Brister tells CityNews. “The man that he bumped into produced a knife and stabbed our victim several times, in the back and torso and then fled the scene.”

The first suspect is a white male, with tanned skin, and is between 5’2 and 5’5. He has a thin build, and was last seen wearing a black parka, blue jeans, toque, and black shoes.

The second suspect is described as a black woman with light skin. She was wearing a brown bomber-style jacket, white sneakers with red socks and carrying a knapsack.

“The violent reaction that this man had to this encounter is absolutely unacceptable, and it’s something that we want to make sure doesn’t happen again,” Brister explains.

The victim was released from hospital and reunited with his dog, who had was taken to a shelter after the stabbing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5100 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
