The man convicted of killing Sarhad Sadiq at a Vaughan café in 2014 has been sentenced to life in prison.

David Odesho, who was 24 at the time of the shooting, was convicted of second-degree murder. He was sentenced to an additional eight years for aggravated assault.

Sadiq and another man were shot at a cafe on Woodstream Boulevard, in an industrial area near Highway 7 and Martin Grove Road, on June 6, 2014.

Sadiq died at the scene and the other man was taken to hospital. He survived, but his identity is not being released.

Odesho turned himself in two days later, on June 8. He was found guilty this year, on Feb. 15, and sentenced on Thursday.
