Bank robber who asked for hold-up note back arrested

By News Staff

Toronto police have arrested a man who tried to rob a bank earlier this month.

When the robbery didn’t pan out, he allegedly asked the teller to return his hold-up note.

The suspect allegedly walked into the bank at Jane Street and Finch Avenue West around 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 3, but left empty-handed. His photo was released about two weeks later, on Feb. 15.

Kirk Stephenson, 25, of Toronto, was arrested Wednesday. He is charged with two counts of robbery.

Police allege he also tried to rob a Money Mart near Tapscott and Neilson roads last year. In both cases, he did not receive any money.
