The TTC has fined a driver after he drove his SUV all the way through the streetcar tunnel at Queens Quay into Union Station on Thursday morning.
The driver claims he was following his GPS, TTC spokesperson Brad Ross tweeted.
The streetcar discovered the vehicle at 3:53 a.m. and the driver had fled on foot. The driver returned and transit enforcement gave him a $425 ticket.
“I can tell you that at that entrance at the top of the ramp going down into the tunnel, there is adequate signage [and] flashing lights,” Ross told 680 NEWS.
Buses were brought in to replace the 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina streetcars until the SUV was lifted off the tracks.
