Woman in her 20s struck and killed in Markham

A woman in her 20s has been killed after being struck by a car in Markham.
York Region Police say the 25-year-old woman was crossing McCowan Road just north of Steeles around 11:30 p.m. last night when she was struck by a car.
Police say the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.
Investigators would not say at this time if the victim was crossing against the traffic signal or whether the car ran the light.
Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and has information or dashcam footage are asked to contact police.
