Fraser Institute’s 10 fastest improving schools in Ontario all outside the GTA

The Fraser Institute has released its annual ranking of Ontario’s secondary schools and of the 10 fastest improving schools in Ontario, none are in the GTA.
The institute’s director of school performance studies, Peter Cowley, told 680 NEWS a lack of improvement doesn’t mean GTA high schools are performing poorly.
“The GTA has a lot of high performing schools … but the fact of the matter is they do not have a monopoly on improvement and improvement happened all over the province, and I think that’s an extraordinarily good thing,” he explained.
The report ranks 740 Anglophones and Francophone public and Catholic schools based on seven academic indicators from the results of annual math and literacy tests.
