Ontario Nurses’ Association wants more funding for long-term care facilities

By The Canadian Press

The Ontario Nurses’ Association is calling for more funding and a minimum of four hours of care per day for residents of provincial long-term care facilities.

The ONA says that should include 48 minutes of registered nurse care.

ONA first vice-president Vicki McKenna says it’s vital that long-term care funding is provided in order to ensure that residents receive the quality of care they deserve.

McKenna says what she calls inadequate long-term care staffing is hurting residents and exposing nurses to increased violence.
