Fog advisory ends for Toronto and most of GTA

By The Canadian Press and News staff

Much of southern Ontario, including Toronto and the GTA, was under a blanket of thick fog on Sunday that drastically reduced visibility on roads and highways across much of the region.

Environment Canada issued a fog advisory on Saturday night, which remained in effect early Sunday morning. The advisory was lifted for Toronto and most of the GTA later in the day.

The national weather agency said the foggy conditions should improve in the afternoon for areas still covered by the advisory, including Caledon and Dufferin – Innisfil.

Air travellers were advised to check on the status of their flights before heading to the airport because of possible delays and cancellations.

In Toronto and the GTA, 680 NEWS meteorologist Harold Hosein said light rain or drizzle would be in store for the rest of the day with a mild high of 8 C. The fog was expected to return on Sunday night.
