A 23-year-old Markham woman will appear in a Newmarket court on Thursday after a fatal single-vehicle crash last year.

A 17-year-old girl was killed, and a 21-year-old woman was injured. It happened at 14th Avenue and Markham Road around 3:05 a.m. on Nov. 18, 2016.

The driver suffered minor injuries. The 17-year-old and the 21-year-old were both passengers in the car.

Police said at the time that it appeared the SUV left the road, rolled, and struck a wall. The vehicle, a white Range Rover, had extensive damage.

Residents in the area told 680 NEWS reporter Carl Hanstke that it is not the first time a speeding vehicle has gone off the road and crashed into the strip mall.

Jing Jing Pan faces charges that include impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and dangerous driving causing death.
