Two men were taken to hospital after they were hit by a car after a road test in North York on Wednesday.
It happened when the person taking the test was parking in the lot of the DriveTest Centre on Lawrence Avenue East, near Victoria Park Avenue, around 3 p.m.
A witness said the driver starting reversing in an effort to straighten his car and then confused the accelerator with the brake pedal.
He then hit a man standing in the parking lot, pinning him under the car. Bystanders helped lift the car off of the man and he was taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries.
The driver also hit his examiner, who wound up with a broken leg.
“I heard a bang … and I realized this person … got confused [with] the accelerator and braking pedal,” said driving instructor Philip Noori.
“He went all the way down there, he hit that guy. And the examiner was right in the middle of the road — He hit that examiner also.”
Police are investigating.
