Molson Amphitheatre to be renamed Budweiser Stage

By News Staff

An iconic Toronto music venue is changing its name as well as the beer flowing from its concession taps.

What was known as the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre is now the Budweiser Stage.

Labatt Breweries of Canada and Live Nation Canada announced the new multi-year sponsorship on Friday. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Molson’s sponsorship deal expired at the end of 2016.

In addition to renaming the popular open-air concert venue, Budweiser is working with Live Nation Canada to add concession locations, expand cashless payment options, and allow fans to arrive at the venue earlier than usual before concert start times.

Meanwhile, bigger plans to revitalize Ontario Place are underway, with phase one scheduled to be unveiled this summer. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport says it will be a 7.5-acre urban park with a nature trail featuring a canyon, a bluff and a summit.

Ontario Place opened in May 1971 but closed in 2012 as the number of visitors dwindled.
