CHARLOTTETOWN – Greg Westlake struck twice and Corbin Watson stopped all six shots he faced as Canada shut out Norway 6-0 on Thursday night to book its spot in the World Sledge Hockey Challenge final.

The Canadians will face the United States in Saturday’s championship game. The U.S. beat South Korea 8-1 in the earlier semifinal while also defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime to wrap up preliminary round play on Wednesday.

“Getting a chance to play (for gold) is exactly where we wanted to be,” said Canadian defenceman Adam Dixon. “We have confidence in our system now. We’ve seen it work against the States, Korea and Norway, and as long as we keep doing what we’re supposed to do and play the way that we’re capable of playing, I think we’ll be fine.”

Liam Hickey scored the first of five second-period goals for the Canadians against Norway. Dixon, Westlake, Tyler McGregor and Bryan Sholomicki rounded out the attack in the second. Westlake added his second of the game in the third period.

Kissinger Deng made 20 saves in defeat for Norway, which will play for bronze against South Korea on Saturday afternoon.
