Musicians react to their Grammy nominations

Reactions to the Grammy Awards nominations, announced Tuesday by The Recording Academy. The 59th annual Grammys will air live on CBS from Los Angeles on Feb. 12, 2017.

— “Glory be to God. I’m nominated for 7 #grammys. Thank you to everyone who worked on Coloring Book, I love you,” Chance the Rapper wrote on Twitter.

— “what an absolute blessing to be recognized for dangerous woman this way AND to be nominated alongside so many artists (and friends) i love and albums i am such a fan of,” Ariana Grande, nominated for best pop vocal album and pop solo performance, posted on Instagram.

— “Can’t believe that we’re nominated for 3 Grammy Awards including “Record Of The Year,” ”Song Of The Year” & “Best Pop/Duo Performance.” What an incredible year it has been ladies and gentlemen! #GRAMMYs,” Danish group Lukas Graham posted on Facebook and Twitter.

— “SO EXCITING!! Can’t believe it?! So honoured to be nominated with such a talented group of artists!” Kelly Clarkson, nominated for best pop solo performance, wrote on Twitter.

— “I still can’t believe I’ve been NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY…. you guys have no idea how unbelievably grateful and happy I am,” first-time nominee Demi Lovato tweeted.

— “BLINK-182 NOMINATED FOR BEST ROCK ALBUM THIS IS THE BEST MORNING EVER!!” band vocalist Mark Hoppus wrote on Twitter.

— “So thrilled ‘Encore’ has been recognized by the Recording Academy. What a joy this album was to make.” — Barbra Streisand, nominated for best traditional pop vocal album, wrote in a statement.

— “I’m grateful to God every day for the opportunity to play jazz and bring joy to people with this music. It’s humbling to be nominated again for Best Improvised Solo,” 13-year-old Joey Alexander said in a statement. “I’m thankful to be recognized by the Grammys, and for the great musicianship of Larry Grenadier and Ulysses Owens Jr., who played with me on the tune.”

— “AHH A GRAMMY NOM!! BEST. NEWS. EVER!!!” Kevin Olusola of the a cappella group Pentatonix posted on Twitter, referring to their nod for best country duo/group performance for “Jolene” with Dolly Parton.

— “Oh my god. MOM IM GOING TO THE GRAMMYS,” best new artist nominee Kelsea Ballerini tweeted.

— “We are incredibly grateful to be nominated for 2 Grammy awards,” the Avett Brothers, up for best Americana album and American roots performance, said on social media. “Congratulations to our fellow nominees — we are honoured to be in such good company!”

— “Exchange is nominated for a grammy. to all the folks in louisville, remember it’s Possible here. big thanks to the Academy!” best R&B song nominee Bryson Tiller posted on Twitter.

— “We were in line at dunkin donuts and high fived everyone in the store,” The Chainsmokers, who earned three nominations, posted on Twitter. “So honoured and grateful! Thank you Grammys for these nominations this is the best news ever! Honestly can’t believe it :)”

— “WE DID THIS!!! @TheChainsmokers congrats on all the other noms too,” wrote Daya, who is nominated for best dance recording for “Don’t Let Me Down” with the Chainsmokers.

— “so much to be proud of today! thank you guys for the nominations for Closer and Purpose + huge congrats to @TheChainsmokers @justinbieber,” tweeted Halsey, who earned two nominations for her guest appearances on songs with Justin Bieber and the Chainsmokers.

— “It’s 2am and I’m just coming down from a crazy great show overseas,” Keith Urban, nominated for three country Grammys, said in a statement. “I’m totally blown away with these nominations. Making RIPCORD was really a collaborative labour of love both for the music and all the people that helped me bring my vision to life. I’ll stay up anytime to hear news like this..just not sure of how to get to sleep now!!”
