Man struck and killed on Hwy. 401 near Keele

By News Staff

Ontario provincial police are investigating after a man was struck and killed on Highway 401.

He was outside his vehicle at the time.

The crash happened in the eastbound collector lanes near Keele Street around 4 a.m. on Tuesday. Those lanes remain closed between Keele and Highway 400 for the investigation.

Paramedics say the man was in his 20s.

Police first received a report of an erratic driver near Highway 401 and Islington Avenue sometime between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.

The male driver of that vehicle got out of his car and was hit multiple times.

It’s not yet known how many vehicles hit the man. Police are also investigating if the man was driving erratically because he was missing a tire, and had stopped to either change it or look for his missing tire.
