Police in Ontario are continuing to search for a nine-year-old girl, but they say the Amber Alert related to her whereabouts has concluded.

Niagara Regional Police say Layla Sabry and her mother Allana Haist were last seen on Thursday evening in Welland, Ont.

Const. Virginia Moir says they are continuing to treat Layla’s case as a missing person investigation, but enough time has elapsed that they concluded the Amber Alert.

Haist is described as white, 38 years old, five-foot-one, with medium length brown hair, and brown eyes, and also goes by the names Kate Dillon or Lana Marie.

Sabry is described as white, about four-foot-two, with a thin build, brown hair, and brown eyes.

Police said the girl also goes by the names Layla Haist or Arya Dillion.

The pair were last seen Thursday evening at 6 King Street in Welland at 6 p.m.

Police said they were operating under a court order to return the child to her father.
