‘Murdoch Mysteries’ star Yannick Bisson to get ACTRA award of excellence

By The Canadian Press

TORONTO – “Murdoch Mysteries” star Yannick Bisson will receive an award of excellence from Canada’s performers’ union.

ACTRA says it will hand out the annual honour to Bisson at its awards gala on Feb. 25 in Toronto.

Bisson has over 60 performing credits to his name, including that of Det. William Murdoch in “Murdoch Mysteries.”

Now in its 10th season, the series airs on CBC-TV.

The Montreal native is also known for his roles on “Sue Thomas: F.B. Eye” and “High Tide.”

ACTRA heralded Bisson as “a true Canadian star,” noting he’s also been a champion of Canadian performers and worked with various charities.

“Yannick’s popularity proves the wisdom of hiring Canadians to tell Canadian stories,” ACTRA Toronto president David Sparrow said Thursday in a statement.

Bisson thanked his colleagues, fans, friends and family for inspiring and encouraging him.

“I am filled with so much gratitude and further committed to giving back to my industry — an industry that has given me so much — in a significant way,” he said.
