A special weather statement issued by Environment Canada on Wednesday has ended for Toronto and parts of the GTA.
It was lifted just before 5 a.m. on Thursday, but remains in effect for Newmarket, Georgina, Pickering, Durham Region, northern York Region, Uxbridge, Caledon, Barrie and Orillia.
The weather agency says intermittent light freezing rain will continue for those affected areas. Some areas could also see snow or a rain-snow mix.
Freezing rain is expected to change to rain as the temperature rises.
680 NEWS meteorologist Jill Taylor says the freezing rain and snow will change to showers early Thursday morning. The showers will end at noon, but are expected to return overnight. The high will be 5 C.
